Who are the Gypsies

The homeland of the Gypsies is India. 

Difficult events that led to the migration of the India Gypsies tribes took place at the beginning of the second millennium. In other words, it's about 1000 years.

 

The Gypsies are Rom. The Romany people should not to be confused with Romanians, an unrelated ethnic group and nation, nor with modern or ancient Romans, also unrelated.

Rom name comes from an old Sanskrit word Dom, which means "man".

Many Roma and researchers find the source name in the form of Rama, the legendary hero of Mahabharata and Ramayana.

There is much activity among the Roma people today to instill their authentic name publicly.

מי הם הצוענים

ארץ מכורתם של הצוענים היא הודו. 

האירועים הקשים שהביאו לנדידת השבטים הצועניים את הודו התרחשו בתחילת האלף השני לספירה. כלומר, מדובר ב-1000 שנה.

הצוענים הם רום, ROM, ברבים רומה ROMA. אין לבלבל בין בני הרומה ובין העם הרומני או עם רומא העתיקה.
כיום מתקיימת פעילות רבה בקרב בני הרומה להשרשת את שמם האותנטי ברבים.
השם רום מקורו במילה סנסקיט עתיקה DOM, שפירושה הוא "אדם". 

רבים מבני הרומה והחוקרים מוצאים את מקור שמם בדמות ראמה, הגיבור האגדי של המהאבהארטה והראמאיאנה.
